CBD Extraction, THC Percentages and Dosage Recommendations
How is CBD extracted from the cannabis plant?
CO2 extraction is the best way to obtain pure CBD isolate in which it exists as a crystal that is clear/white. This technique is preferred to other techniques because, in the end product, it leaves almost zero traces of chemical contaminants.
Alcohol extraction is another technique in which a liquid such as ethanol, butane, or hexane is passed through the raw plant material to remove the CBD and then evaporated to leave only the active cannabinoid This may be a dangerous method as it is likely to leave in the sample surplus traces of butane or hexane chemicals.
Another effective way to extract CBD is to infuse vegetable oil (i.e. olive oil). All you do is grind the raw material of the plant, decarboxylate (heat) it and let it sit for about 2 hours in boiling water.
Do CBD products contain THC?
While many CBD products contain higher traces of THC, products carried by Herba Relief are strictly CBD Only and contain less than 0.3% THC as required by law to be sold in the USA & Canada.
CBD-only products focus on the medicinal benefits without the psychoactive and intoxicating effects. One of the misconceptions pertains to that intoxicating effect and that the absence of that effect means there’s a lack of chemical reactions taking place. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Your body is still very much reacting and making those chemical connections without any psychoactive/intoxicating sensations.
What serving/dosage of CBD should I take?
This question is a difficult one because it depends on what you use the compound for and how powerful the product is, of course. Most people consume between 10-50 mg of CBD per day in total. (For reference, 1 mL of a potent oil may contain 50mg of CBD. Make sure that you read the product label to guarantee a proper serving.
We normally recommend starting at a low dosage and working your way up. Everyone reacts to it differently and should adjust their intake based on their body’s tolerance & pain levels. When in doubt, always speak with your healthcare professional and follow their directions.
